asking for your prayers

Please join Steve and I as we pray for baby Stellan, the unborn baby of a wonderful woman we are just starting to get to know. MCK Mama has taken beautiful photographs of Anna and our family in the past, and through these experiences (and through reading her blog for the past year) she has touched our lives. For reasons no one can understand, she is in the middle of her pregnancy and her baby is currently fighting for his life. Please click on this link (the picture below) to learn more of her story, but more importantly to join in the many, many people who are praying for her baby boy, her family, the doctors, and more.

little miss "fix it"

Upon returning home from camp, it took Anna all of 30 seconds to notice that a lamp was returned to our living room after having spent some time in another room upstairs. Immediately she began pushing the button on and off, looking up and wondering why the light wouldn't turn on (the light switch was not flipped so the outlet was off). After determining that it was "bwoken" she set out to "fix it"...just like her Papa would. Check it out....

snowball in july

Ahh, it's my day off. Why not get Anna's clothes and diapers and everything out of the baby room and into her new room, I thought as I dropped Anna off at camp. Sure, that should take an hour or two and then I can relax and work on the scarf I started to knit last night.

Ever start a day like that and then suddenly you have a stack of projects so high you can't see the kitchen?

I opened the closet in Anna's new room and began to empty it out. Wrapping paper, my wedding dress, a paper cutter, pillows, blankets and more. What to do with all of this stuff? So began my hunt to find new homes for these items. Then came the bins. Oh, there were bins. Bins filled to the brim with boxes and bags. Bins filled with pictures and every card we received for our wedding and the birth of our child. Slowly I sorted through each - sending much to the garbage and some back to bins. As I worked the projects started to pile up in my head - hmmm, I should scan all these photos in and made a photobook with my college pictures, my high school pictures, our wedding pictures, etc. I was 10 photo books deep in my head before I closed that bin and placed it elsewhere. Another day.

Then on to the baby room to empty that closet and move its contents into Anna's. Two more bins later filled with clothes outgrown, hangers upon hangers strewn across the floor, I quickly realized this was no one hour project. So, I settled in and sorted and hung things up.

Once the closet in the baby room was empty I figured I might as well rearrange the furniture in there, wash the new sheets and put them on the crib, hang the new curtain, and get things organized for our new arrival that will be here....oh, you know, in 5 months. Pressed for time I am, ha!

As I sorted and moved and stored and shoved things under beds (oh boy) I realized that there are so many other closets that need to be cleaned and organized and well, DE-CLUTTERED. Just the thought of all these "other" projects that have snowballed into my head is exhausting, I think I will nap instead.

feeling hot hot HOT!

Ready....Set....GO!
(Check out that expression!)
When the heat can't be beat, it's waterslides and water fun. Yesterday we made our own water park in the backyard...spending the morning in our pool and then over in the neighbor's pool as well. Today it was off to the real thing - our local water park for more fun in the sun. I don't know...do you think Anna enjoys it??

pretty pink palace fit for a pretty petite princess

Anna's room is nearly complete. With a few things left to hang on the walls, curtains to exchange for longer ones, clothes to move into her closet and a baby bed to outfit (see it next to her bed?)...completion is in sight! Anna loves her new pink palace and gets excited to show it off to family members and friends. So far her nap and night times have been uneventful, with the exception of one errant nap in which she did sleep in her crib. It's just all so pink it can't help but make you smile!

14 weeks

Our little peanut is already 14 weeks...slowly we are creeping up on the half-way mark. It's hard to believe we are only 6 short weeks away from our 20 week appointment, during which we will get to see our baby again. This is often the time when many will find out if their baby is a boy or a girl...we have decided not to. I feel like this pregnancy is going by so quickly!

Entering the second trimester, I was hopeful that I would start to feel better. While on the whole the nausea has subsided somewhat and my energy on some days is higher than others, I can't say I am over the hump quite yet. Last week I thought I had finally made it - the acid taste disappeared from my mouth and my nausea was nowhere to be found. But then the weekend hit and it all came back with a vengeance. Poor Steve has had to deal with not only a very active toddler, but a very sick wife as well. I am still hopeful that the next week or 2 will bring about some change. I also find myself cringing when I hear myself complain because we are so blessed to have a healthy baby growing inside.

Many have asked me if this pregnancy is the same or different from Anna's. I would say it's a little of both. Similar in that I was very sick with Anna up until the 15th or 16th week - after that I felt quite good until the last several weeks. I would say this one is a little harder because I have Anna to look after which is a much more active job than sitting at my desk was, and my hours are sometimes longer. The peak of my sickness also tends to come in the late afternoons (vs. mornings with Anna) and last through the nights - making sleep difficult. Other differences include food aversions and cravings. With Anna I craved sugar and chocolate - and with this baby those types of things make me very ill.

For some reason over the course of the past week, I have started to sense that this baby is a boy. It's just a feeling, based on nothing, but I would lean in that direction if I had to say what I thought this baby is. That said, I have had only one dream about the baby, and in that dream we gave birth to a baby girl. Go figure. Either way, we will be equally thrilled with a son or daughter, we are not hoping for one over the other.

Over the past few days my stomach has popped out. I will take a picture soon and post it here so you can see how this baby grows. Please keep us in your prayers...more posts and pictures to come.
