Spa-tacular 7th Birthday!

It's hard to believe, but today Anna turned 7!  After a week of celebrating with family, at school and at soccer, Anna was very excited to celebrate with her friends at our home.  Anna has been planning her "spa" party for weeks, and we did our best to make her dream her reality for her GOLDEN birthday!

Overnight our temporary home was transformed into the "Ooo La La Birthday Spa" - covered in pink, white and zebra stripes, it was definitely girly!  The girls enjoyed sitting in the "quiet room" where they placed warm towels on their faces and hands to relax after a rough first week of 1st grade (or Kindergarten or 2nd grade in some  cases). They moved on to the kitchen for yogurt facials and to soak their fingers...then to the living room for a foot soak.  They were pampered by our fantastic babysitter Sarah, who did their nails (more extravagantly than the REAL spa!), and moved on to making their own sugar hand scrub and decorating the jars the scrub was stored in.  It was certainly a day to remember.  Anna loved every minute and I hope will remember her golden birthday as a fantastic one!

just like that...it's the first day of school

After a very long time away from the blog, I'm considering writing again.  It seems to be a good way for me to capture pictures and share them with family, without sharing every detail with the world on Facebook.  We'll see how long I can stick with it!

After many months of anticipation, today Anna began her first day of 1st grade at her new school.  She was both excited, and a little bit nervous - and so was her mom!  But our brave little girl headed off to school full of smiles and ready to begin a new chapter.  Here are a few pics from our morning.

While Anna is enjoying her first day at school, Emmett and I are getting used to being home just the two of us.  We spent some time at the gym, playing outside and playing games.  So far, it's been a very fun and special day for the 2 of us as well.  It's our last year before Emmett will also head off to school and a whole new chapter will begin.  So, I will soak up these moments because I know they will be over before I know it!
