In our home, birthdays are not a one day celebration. Steve's birthday comes first in our cozy family of three and about a week before his actual birthday, "birthday week" is declared. This means special adventures, meals, you name it, that occur throughout the week.
So, today marks the beginning of Anna's 1st "birthday week". To begin it with a bang we had a wonderful Labor Day! We spent the morning taking a stroll in the wagon, heading to the park for our daily dose of swinging. On the way we ran into many neighbors and friends so Anna had many opportunities to socialize - to give you an idea of the number of kids in our neighborhood, in a short 30 minute span we played with: Gabe, Sam, Sophia, Lizzie, Joey and Ellie.
This afternoon we headed to "Underwater Adventures", a very large indoor aquarium to look at fish, sharks, turtles and many other sea creatures. Anna absolutely LOVED it. She pointed at all the fish, and spun around quickly wondering where to look next. The tunnel we walked through allowed her to see the fish on all sides of her.
We finished the night off with a special family meal - pork tenderloin, corn on the cob, strawberries, cheese and jello for Anna. She loved it all! What a wonderful start to a week in honor of our little lady.
